Horsin Around

This is one of the images that I just had to go buy after getting a prize from one of my challenge wins.  It is by  Paper Pretties.  I have a young friend who has loved horses, most of her life.  (I think she's 11 now - lol.)  This is the first time that I've done one of these easel's with the box.  (I could tell you a story about getting the measurements right for the box, but we'll save that for another day.)  Hopefully I'll get better with time.  But it was fun.  I'm doing two more up for a couple more young ladies that are in my congregation.  I sort of  "adopted" them when I didn't have any grandchildren, and would give them little gifts now and then.
I found out what their favorite colors were and whether they liked a certain animal, or not, and if they would rather have funny or cute something.  (One doesn't know yet I'm doing this.  The other two probably just think it's a card I'm doing.)  I love doing things for others if I know they appreciate it.

The three favorite colors of this young lady were purple, lime green & turquoise.  The background papers on the card are by Basic Grey, and I'm not real sure of the rest of the dp's (and there are several - the drawer, inside & out; and both pieces of the box are different, as well as the decorative papers around all four sides of the box and drawer front).  There are a little over 30 jewels on the top of the card (wasn't thinking about what would be on top of it. Duh!  I distressed most of the papers.  And tried to use several different embellishments, without overwhelming the card.  Below are close-ups of the horse and the sentiment. (Which is another one made up by my dear hubby.)
I really liked the unusual paperclips I found and the buttons I stacked up, glued them together and tied twine through; this was all from my stash.

Closeup of the horse.  (not as close as I'would have liked)

The supplies I've used are:
papers by Basic Grey and others from my stash
gems and tiny flowers by Recollections
larger flower by Creative Charms
ribbon for bow and the "other" lace are from
buttons, paper clips and charm from stash
and I used an embossing folder by Sizzix

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

My Partner in Crafting Crime - 3 or more layers
DDH - stitching
Catch The Bug Blogspot - 4 or more layers
