Here I am to save the day....

Oh, I'm sorry that was Mighty Mouse's catch phrase.  (I hate to think of how many of you out there are probably scratching their heads and asking who is Mighty Mouse. LOL.  I think this Penny Black stamp is so cute!  I colored the stamped images and then cut them out and placed them on top of the woven heart, pop-dotting them so they would be more three dimensional.  Some of you may have heard me singing the praises of Cheery Lynn Designs lately, but I'm going to have to do it again for this card, as I've used them all over the card. In case you're wondering, no, I don't get paid to mention this company.  LOL. You may recognize the heart again, but the woven pink and green heart in the center is by using a die called "Wittle Wickers"  The also have Wittle Weavers & Big Wickers and Weavers, too. These will cut and emboss paper into 1/4" or 1/2" strips that you can weave.  I get kick out of the name.  And of course the butterfly is also one of theirs.

I'm not sure where I got the ribbon, the paper on the front is open stock paper from Michaels, and on the inside it is by Basic Grey they roses are by Recollections.  I used a couple of clear sentiments on the inside. The leaves going up the side come on the Basic Grey paper that way.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Die Cuttin Divas - celebration (Anniversary)
Alota Rubber Stamps - checks (weaving)
Crafty Sentiments - special occasion (Anniversary)
  Colour Create Challenge - wht/cream/brown
Simply Create - special day
Totally Papercrafts - pink & girly
Wags 'n Whiskers - stitching

I hope you've all enjoyed seeing my latest card, and I hope you will leave some love.

Horse in his stall...

I'm not sure if it was just too early or that I was still tired that I couldn't think of a witty name for this card.  I know that I didn't get much sleep last night, but that's normal for me.  This is my card for the  Digi Doodle's Best  challenge.  I know everyone loves the "anything goes"  challenges, so why not go to the store and grab one of their great images (not that you have to use their image) and join in.  They have a great sale going on.

This beautiful fellow is actually from one image, and the barn is from another.  I cut a young girl off of the horse, then I cut a hole from above the stall door.   I used mostly browns and greys with my Prismacolors to do the coloring. There are six (6) layers of paper and card stock if you count the paper the image is on. The layers are distressed with Tim Holtz's  distressing inks. The beautiful brown ribbon at the bottom is some purchased at Joann's.  And finally I thought it was interesting that the card itself  looks like a picture in a frame.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Digi Stamps 4 Joy - boy or man
Paper Romance - distressing
Crafty Purple Frog Challenge - a thing of beauty
Color Create Challenge Blog - white/cream/brown

I hope you enjoy my card.  I'll be sorting out and drawing a name later today for the challenge winners.  If you still want to join in, you need to get ALL of the requirements done before I get going again.  There are some that I can't find their posts to DDSB stating that I had referred them.

Here kitty, kitty, kitty...

This is the last of the boxes I did for three young ladies.  This one likes jungle cat; and not wanting to create a box that was too serious, I searched for cute creatures.  I found this cutie at The Stitchy Bear Stamps Store. He worked out perfectly, and she really did like him.  I colored him with my Prismacolor pencils and used Gamsol.  Then I used Clear Gloss Accents on his eyes.  The flourish was made with pearls that I colored with my Promarkers.  This butterfly and the flowers are some pre-packaged items I purchased at one of the local Craft shops.  The plaid paper is punched along the bottom edge with a MS punch.  The other border is a zig zag die from   the Cheery Lynn Shop that has holes punched in it to be stitched, if so desired.
The green cardstock is embossed with a Sizzix folder; the buttons, lace and twine are from my stash.  I used a light blue to distress around the tiger, and a light purple was used on the flower border.

I'm entering this box in the following challenges:

Shelly's Images - anything
Craft Us Crazy -  favorite embellishment - lace
Paper Romance Challenges - anything but a card
Prairie Fairy Fridays - more than 1 fold
I Did It - anything
DDH -   anything but a card
OLLCB - fancy folds
HLSC - box
Woodware - anything
Craft Your Passion - something off the edge
Southern Girls Challenge - lace & pearls

I hope that you've enjoyed looking at my post.  Don't forget to sign up for my candy, last time I checked I was only three (3) away from drawing the winners.  Look at top of blog.

Did You Ever Have One of Those Days?

That's how things have been running for me the last couple of weeks. You know, Murphy's Law: "Whatever can go wrong, will".  So I thought this cute little guy was appropriate for my card for this week's Embossing Challenge at Digi Doodle Shop's Best.  Yep, that's right, it's one of every one's favorite challenges: embossing.  We'd love to see what you can create.  The prize is a gift certificate to the store for $10.00.  You don't know what you're missing if you've never used any of Judy or Mom's images.  Also don't forget to stop by and check out all of the lovely cards by the rest of the Design Team.

I used a Sizzix embossing folder that I've wanted to use for ages, but I thought it needed a special card, and this fits perfectly.  The top color is more of an aqua rather than green.  The DP came with this gradation.  I used more open stock paper I purchased, MS's punch, buttons and a tissue paper flower that I made.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.  I guess you can also tell that I've distressed the edges with an aqua color also.  The material tying the buttons is twine.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Frosted Designs - twine (tying my buttons)
Sew Many Cards - anything
Stamp Something - anything
Designed 2 Delight - handmade flowers
Crafty Cardmakers - embossing
Scrappy Frogs - anything
The Paper Shelter - distressing

Don't forget that I have CANDY for NEW and CURRENT followers.  Just jump to top of page. I only need 6 more new followers until I check everything out and do the draw for the prize.   Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Graduate...

As spring turns summer many young and not so young are getting ready for graduation.  It's a happy time for the graduate, the family, and friends. A good friend commissioned this card for her grandson's graduation this weekend.  He's graduating from high school one day and community college the next day with an associates degree.

I've used this cute image from Mo's.  I thought he expressed the feeling of many after their hard work.  I found the paper a few weeks ago, not knowing I would need it.  The sentiment is from a $1 pack of stickers from A.C. Moore. The image was colored with my prismacolors pencils and gamsol.  I was going to do more 3D work, but time got away from me; but I did color an extra hat (or mortar board) to pop it up.

Here's the inside of card:

Here's the back of card:

This was a fairly easy and simple card for me; as I didn't use too many elements.  After the image, I wanted the paper to be the focus.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

I Did It Creations - monochromatic
Stamps R Us Challenges - for a male
The Crazy Challenge - anything
Happileigh Challenge - green
Simon Says Stamp & Show - anything
Digi Stamps 4 Joy - celebration

Love Birds...

Well it's tht time again.  Time for a new challenge over at Digi Doodle Shop's Best.  This week we've changed things around a little and we're doing a "color" challenge.  We need to see some "Pink and Blue".  Any image you would like to use.  But why don't you stop over at the Store and check out this week's sales.

Here's my card.  I'm using two little love birds from Digi Doodle, of course.  This is a great image for anniversaries or for a friend.  I used my prisma colors and gamsol for coloring. While you're at it why don't you stop over and see what the other ladies on the DT have done.  I can tell you, they are awesome!

I've used Spellbinders nesties for the scalloped circle and then another doily die from Cheery Lynn Designs; the lace is from Joann's; the roses are by Recollections; the felt flower was made by me with the scalloped die from My Favorite Things Stamps and the rest of the items were from my stash.  I distressed the edges of the blue and pink paper and then used stickles on top of that.

Here's a close-up of the birds:

Natural Beauty?

My husband has been a jewel in all that he's done for me since I had my surgeries last year.  So I wanted to make a special thank you card for him. This one has been on the back burner for some time. And I have to say that this card is by far one of my favorites.  I had the most fun doing it.  The idea has been swimming around in my mind for several months, and now I've finally been able to execute it.  Originally I was going to make this a typical card.  However, I realized that it needed more room because the captions needed to be spaced out.  (This is ALL one card; the front here, folds down and you have the second layout; then you fold the top up and you will see the last sentiment, the older woman and the butterfly on the doily.) I folded two pieces of cardstock in half, and adhered one to the other, so it had three pages.) So here's the front of the card:

The image is from Sweet Pea Stamps and is one that I've had for over a year, but have never gotten around to using, even though I had already colored the image.  The beautiful butterfly die, doily, sunflower and the embossing plate on the back  page of the card is from  Cheery Lynn Designs.  A dear friend sent several of these to me for a gift.   Woo Hoo!  The card front opens down and this is what you see next:

The punch on the top is one of the deep cut ones from MS. And now finally, here's the really fun part of the card; which you see by lifting the page with the two sunflowers up:
Of course I'm sure most of you recognize the image from  Bugaboo Stamps   These are such funny characters.  And my caption for this image is:

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

House of Gilli - layers and stitching
Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central - Nestibilities from store

Got Moose?

 Digi Doodle Shop's Best - Challenge #57 - Sketch

This week our challenge over at Digi Doodle Shop's Best is the sketch above.  As you can see, it's a very easy sketch.  I'm sure you'll love seeing all of the wonderful work the rest of the team did.  And don't forget to stop over at the Shop and check out this week's new images and sale.  They're fantastic.  You'll see a preview of a couple of these images on the DT's cards today.
This is for one of my daughter's friend in Canada, and I thought it would get a chuckle. When I saw the moose, I immediately thougtht of him.  Inside the card's answer to the caption is: "Eh?"  We're always teased about some of the words we use, so I thought I would pick on him now this time.  I typed the caption out on my computer.  Being this was for a male and I'm mailing it out of the US, I wanted to keep the postage down, so I didn't add too many embellishments to it.  The background paper is some I made by embossing the paper with a die by my new favorite die company, Cheery Lynn Designs   I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks, one of which was copper.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafts 4 Eternity - anything

House of Gilli - layers & stitching
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - for the boys
Paper Playtime - friend
One Stitch at a Time - embossing
