Are You Talkin’ To Me???

It’s that time of the week again.  Time for a new challenge over at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges.  There are so many gorgeous images to choose from that you’ll want to look here at the Shop to see what this month’s specials are.  This week is the challenge that everyone loves: Anything Goes.

I’ve used this funny little guy.  I have a schnauzer, Oliver, who thinks he rules the house and he pretty much does. LOL.  So this title is very fitting.
I colored his pillow purple because it reminds me of royalty, and he definitely looks like he’s looking down his nose at us. I didn’t think he needed much in the way of decoration, so all I did was run the purple paper through the crimper and did three layers of nestibilities, including the image.  I used a MS stamp, ribbon  and some black buttons.

The paper, buttons and ribbon are from my stash. On the inside I used another MS punch, this one is called Cherished.
I’m entering this in the following challenges:

Frosted Designs – buttons
Really Reasonable Ribbons – cool & ribbon
Paper Cutz Challenge – anything
Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge – no pink or blue
Sweet Stop Sketches – sketch
CES Challenges – funny
Totally Gorjuss – punch or die
Lollipop Crafts – anything
Hooked On Craft Challenges – cute
Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges – anything
Die cut Dreams – 4-legged animal
The Stamping Boutique – cool colors
Crazy Challenge – ribbon
Simon Says Stamp & Show – anything
Clear It Out – anything
Deep OCean Challenge Blog – ribbon
7 Kids Challenge Blog – texture
Craft Us Crazy – anything
Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog – make someone smile
Stampin’ For the Weekend – 4-legged animal
Digis With Attitudes – anything

Thanks for looking at my work.  Don’t forget to stop over at the blog and see what the other ladies have made.  As usual, they have some awesome work.

You’re My Tweetheart…

This is another work that took me forever to finish.  Of course, I’ve been working on other things around it.  It’s definitely a labor of love.  This is my first time making any kind of box like this.  I saw the instructions here at Dannie’s Designs and saved it away to do later.  Here’s a close up of the image by Paper Pretties that can be found here

A couple of subtle differences are that I did the birds on the front, that I used a punch on the back edges and that I made a front pocket for return labels and stamps instead of the address book, pocket for stamps and pen that Dannie did.

The tags were made with my Cricut using the “Tags, Bags, Boxes and More” cartridge.  The post-it notes were purchased at Wal-Mart.  In the front pocket I’ve made labels with my friend’s return address for anything she might want to mail out.

Here are the cards I made.  I began by hand-embossing the white card stock. The stamps are from the $1 bin at Michaels, and I’ve used my Nestibilities to cut the flower and background.  I’ve made eight cards, with different sentiments for every two cards. A long while back Michaels offered the monogram stamps and I purchased them to use like I did on the envelope.
There are two different designs inside the cards, one set has the oval on the left and

the other set has the rectangle.  This is not a difficult project to make, just time consuming.  One of the nice things I like about this is that once she uses the cards I made (my hubby said she wouldn’t) she can put store bought cards in the box.

I’m entering this project in the following challenges:

Crafty Creations Challenges – seeing double (birds)
Rainbow Lady’s Challenge Blog – pet
AI Factory Challenges – 2 layers
Craft Us Crazy – anything
Crafty Sentiments – happy ever after
DYSU – wings

Hang in There…

It’s Time for a new challenge over at DDSC and for me this is one of the most difficult cards I’ve made in a long time.  Now you’re probably looking at this card and thinking: “Why?”

It’s because it’s a challenge for me not to put things all over my card. LOL. I really love it when I see the CAS cards, but I just find it difficult when I see mine because I always think it needs more.

Ok, enough about me.  As you might have guessed, this little guy’s name is “hang in there” and can be found at The Shop here.  There are so many fantastic images to choose from and there’s always a sale going on.  Don’t forget to stop by and see what the rest of the team have come up with.  As usual their cards are awesome.  We really do have some talented ladies.

I used my Nestibles and Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol.  I did score 1/2” around the card and “stitched” the card.  The sentiment is one I typed on my computer.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Frosted Designs – quote
Allsorts – free and easy
I Did It – animals
One Stitch At A Time – flowers
DDH – summer
Craft Your Passion – sentiment

More Rain Please…

Now think of this in the manner that Oliver Twist asked for more food.  For some reason that thought came to mind when I decided to name this post. LOL.

So it made me think of how we view the rain.  If we want to go somewhere, or it’s been raining for a while, we’re more than happy to see it leave.  But it really depends on what we want to do or need.

Most of your probably already know this little cutie is by Mo Manning. I love how her images have so much expression in their faces.  I’ve had her colored for months now, I just couldn’t decide what I wanted to do with her.
I do love black, white and red, so this week’s challenge was perfect for her.
I know another reason why paper distressing is called distressing.  Because when you take a beautiful piece of paper and wad it up in a ball and then smooth it back out to use, that can be quite distressing. LOL.
I’ve cut the mat for the image with my Nestibilies. Most of my paper is by DCWV. The roses are by Recollections and I’m not sure about the rest of the items.  I used Stickles on the roses and Glossy Accents on the water.  The flourish and the inside papers were cut with my Cricut.  The inside is cut using “Elegant Edges”.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly – hot, hot, hot
Deep Ocean Challenge – card
Creative Craft Challenge – pretty blossoms
Simon Says Stamp - anything
Mo’s Digital Challenge – black, white + one

Visiting a Neighbor…

It’s that time of week again. There’s a new challenge over at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges.  This week we’re to make our own flowers.  Now everyone seems to be coming up with all kinds of flowers, so get out those dies or whatever it is you use to make yours.  You’ll love Digi Doodle images if you haven’t already tried them.  Judy and Mom have been coming up with some awesome new images.  Stop over at the shop and check them out.  Also you must check out the rest of the DT's cards, too.  They're awesome.

Here’s my card with their prairie dogs. I just love seeing these little guys.  When I lived in Pecos Texas, there was a park that had an area set aside for them.  It was a joy to watch their antics.

My card is fairly self-explanatory.  The flower die, leaf flourish and butterfly can be found here at Cheery Lynn Designs.  (The color of the butterfly doesn't look as nice as in real life.  I use a shimmer paint on top, and the light just didn't do much for it.  I love their dies. The first time I used the flower die, I only used one image, this time I used two. For the center I used seed beads by MS.  They really do shine, but the photo doesn’t do them justice.

This is the inside.  I used the Elegant Edges cartridge by Cricut for the mat and the borders.
I’d like to enter this in the following challenges:

 Sketch Saturday – sketch
Allsorts Challenge – anything
One Stop Craft Challenge – summer

Off to live at grandmother's…

I thought this was the cutest image by Mo’s Digital Pencil.  I have several images by Mo and they’re one of my favorites.  I am always reminded of “Ann of Green Gables” when I see this one.  The challenge calls for the card to be distressed and use lace.

I distressed this with several techniques.  The frame around the image is a frame that I had left over after I cut a mat out on my card that will be posting Thursday for DDSC.  I took my distressing inks and dabbed  several colors so it would go with the image.  I then took copper perfect pearls and rubbed it on in a few places.  The doily is by Cheery Lynn Designs. Many of the embellishments are from my stash. Here's a close-up of the little lady.

I tried a new technique for my charm today, too.  On someone's blog (sorry I forgot to write her name down)I learned how to transform metallic items with acrylic paints or fingernail polish.  This is my first try; and my "chain" is made from twine that I kept tying into knots until I got the length I wanted.

Here’s the inside of my card:

I hope you enjoyed looking at my card.

Best Friends Share Everything…

It’s a new week with a new challenge at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges.   Take your beautiful butterflies and add them to your projects and come join us.

I thought this was one of the cutest images.  I can just see a little boy offering his ice cream to his dog.  Of course, if it was our dog, Oliver, the cone would be gone. LOL.  Head over to the Shop  and purchase it or other great images for yourself.  Remember if you use a Digi Doodle image, you’re entered twice in the challenge for each card.   After that, stop over and see the rest of the beautiful cards that our wonderful DT members have done.  I cut the image and background mats from my Nestibles, the butterflies are by Cheery Lynn Designs.  The papers are DCWV and K and Company.  The pearls and the twine I braided are probably from Michaels’.  I used Prismacolor pencils to color the image and the “punch around the page" on the inside are by Fiskars.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Fetch A Sketch – sketch
Truly Scrumptious - wings
Lexi's Creations - bugs
One Stitch At A Time - digi
