A Hoppy Hello

Click on any image to enlarge.

This is a card I made for a dear friend who has had to have his gall bladder removed (the old way) and is not feeling too well. He is a big fan of frogs, and since I've known him and his wife for ages, I try to add to that collection at any occasion. LOL!

I embossed the orange top layer with my cuttlebug, the frog and the mushroom are from my new Paisley cartridge. I'm entering this in the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday. I've also used my punch by Martha Stewart. The papers are by Recollections and Cosmo Crickets. The frog has been printed three times, the mushroom top twice and then both pop-dotted. I still felt the frog needed something, so I did some doodling on him.

Will she or won't she?

...turn on the faucet, that is. Knowing my friend, she would. LOL. This is the last of the nine anniversary cards I did for friends. I am really pleased how this one turned out. It's pretty easy to make a nice card when you use the precious moments children; and combine that with an easel card.

I'm not sure what the papers are, as I split up my stacks. The new things I used are the flowers from the wedding area at Michaels, usually used for table confetti, I'll definitely buy more of these. I used my prismacolor pencils and gamsol to color the image. I've used a punch by MS and the mat is cut using Storybook, the ribbon is a semi-transparent white ribbon I also got at Michaels, but have never used. I'm entering this in the challenge at Stamp Something, here.

We're off to a party...

Don't you just love the hedgehogs? This is the next to last anniversary card I've been working on. I like to do different things, but I find I really like the easel cards. They are so easy, and they display so well.

I did this card for a challenges over at BasicGrey, here. and The Play Date Cafe here. As usual I used prismacolors and gamsol. I cut the mat from Storybook. The base paper is BasicGrey, which was one of the requirements. (To use something from BasicGrey.) The challenge was a color challenge; the colors to be used were blue, pink and cream. It may be hard to tell from this picture, but all of these colors are here. I distressed the edge of the stamped image with a blue ink. The sentiment was matted and two brads were used, before the whole thing was pop-dotted. At The Play Date Cafe the colors turquoise, brown and dusty pink were to be used.

The Mice Wish a Happy Anniversary

Click on any image to enlarge. This is one of the cards I was another of the anniversary cards I was working on for my friends. I've really liked the House Mouse stamps when I first saw them. This one I colored with prismacolors and gamsol.

I thought this was quite festive. The paper is from Autumn Leaves and is called Pretty Poppies. The black is the opposite side of the white, and was embossed with little hearts and had an EK border added. I used crystal stickles on all of the hearts. The flowers were cut from Sweethearts and then I added some doodling. I am entering this in the Sketch & Stash challenge here.

Favorite cards for 2009

Enfys of Going Buggy suggested that we do our favorite cards for 2009, so here are mine. I actually only started doing cards with the Cricut in January. Prior to this I used software, and thought I did a good job, but I've since found this more challenging, and therefore more fulfilling. As you will see, I've grown considerably from my first card to the one for December. I hope you enjoy what you see and will leave a comment. I would love to see what you've done also. Enfys' friend, Kath's cards are here.

Red Rose Anniversary Card

Click on any image to enlarge.

This is card number five of the nine I've done and am working on. This is one of those cards that just sort of came to me. As well as giving this card for a friend's anniversary I'm entering it on the challenges at http://www.polkadoodles.blogspot.com/ and http://www.foreverfriendschallengeblog.blogspot.com/ and http://www.creativecardcrew.blogspot.com/ . The challenges were anything goes. I love the new images Polka Doodles is featuring, and plan to try some at a later date, but I wanted to use this for now. I used Cricut DS to cut the scalloped and plain ovals from SB and PS, the bottom white one I ran through cuttlebug. I'm not sure what all of the papers are, but the vintage red and white is making memories. The corners are die cuts from cuttlebug; and the roses are by Lily Boo Too, colored with prismacolors and gamsol.

Snowman says Happy Anniversary

Click on any image to enlarge.

This is another of the anniversary cards I've done for friends for this month. It also fits into two challenges: Penny Black Challenge: http://www.pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ (which called for the use of red, gold and one Penny Black stamp & C4C Challenge: http://www.crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/ (which called for a snowman or anything snow related.)

This guy didn't take too much coloring with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I used the Wild Card cart, red ribbon, red rhinestones and one of the clear stickles. There is a large snowflake inside the card for the message to my friend.

Love Birds

Click on any image to enlarge.
This is one of nine anniversary cards I'm making for my friends. I guess December was a very busy month. I'm entering this in The Play Date Cafe challenge, which was to use the colors, red, bright pink and lime green. These are some of my favorite colors, so this was not too difficult. The birds are by Lily Boo Too. I'm also entering this in the challenge at Moving Along with the Times, who had a sketch to follow.

I used my prismacolor pencils with gamsol to blend on the birds, various cardstock and one of the new Martha Stewart border punches. I used the new Pagoda cart to do the flowers.

Thanks for looking,

Melody in Red

Click on any image to enlarge.
This card and the one below were done following the sketch at
http://www.sketchandstashchallenge.blogspot.com/. We were to use our newest item or anything from our stash on the card. I used a new digi-stamp that I found at: http://www.pollycraftdesigns.blogspot.com/ for this one and a Precious Moments digi-stamp for the one below. This lovely lady's name is Melody. I loved the fact that I would be able to use several colors in her dress.

I've been looking at the way the talented ladies on the design teams do their coloring and shading, and I'm trying to improve on the way I do so. Mine was done with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I found this sweet paper in a small pack in some of my paper searches so it was easy to pick out the colors for her dress, the "ribbons" are from a cordinating paper. I used the MS hydrangea punches for the flowers with pearls in the center. I haven't figured out who to send it to yet, or for what, so my sentiment is missing, but I will be cutting it with my Cricut.

Anniversary Easel Card

Click on an image to enlarge.

This is another card I did along the same lines as the one above. I love the Precious Moment children, and this is one that I had colored a while back. I was able to find paper to go quite well with it, though. I really like purple and orange together so I was pleased with how the colors turned out together. The ribbon is actually a combination of two separate ribbons. The flowers are silk flowers that I took apart from M's and embellished with the jewels. The sentiment "Happy Anniversary" is cut from Sweethearts in two colors. I used a glitter pen to do my doodling.
