Since summer has truly set in and I found this cute freebie (not sure where) by Snapping Dragon Designs, I thought I'd do a "summer" card. Nothing says summer better to me than a day at the beach. I added the horizon line so I could add the water to the scene; I thought it looked more inviting. The only Cricut cut on the card is the circle behind the image. I used a variety of papers and my prisma pencils to color the image. The ribbon is from Michaels and the border is by EK Success. The card looked a little too plain for me, so I added the faux stitching.

Quack, Quack

Don't you just love the critters from Cricut's "Create a Critter" cartridge? This is my first pop-up card, as well as, my first card using CAC. It was hard to decide which critter to use first. What helped me decide was that I did this for the three-year-old daughter of the couple I did the Precious Moments card for. My husband talks to her sometimes with a Donald Duck imitation and she loves it. One day she ran up to him and said quack quack; so this inspired the whole card.

I was inspired to make my pop-up design the way Karli at Crafting With Class did on her tissue box (just search for tissue box and you can find her tutorial). Like her, I dislike the way the card is all cut out in the one version of the pop-up card. So I just figured out how wide and tall I wanted the pop-up piece to be, and I made little boxes for the duck and sentiment. I really liked using the papers (can't remember if they were all by K&Company or not) and the colors. The flowers didn't photograph as well as I would like. The top layer is velum, and were colored from the back side. They look much nicer in person. I embossed the duck body on both ducks with the Cuttlebug sentiment folder, then I used the small dots on the body of the larger one. I had to add the pearls to add some bling, and along with that I stamped some swirls on the front and inside of the card. The ribbon was some $1 ribbon from Michaels.

This adorable little girl is by Di's Digi Downloads. There are so many gorgeous images, it was hard to decide on just a few. The frame is done with Cricut's Home Decor cartridge. The flowers are silk flowers that I purchased at Michaels. The dragonflies are a MS punch which I layered three times, one in black and two in a green patterned paper; then added Stickles to the top. I also decorated the inside, and typed my message on velum and then placed it to the left of the butterfly.

This card is for the son and daughter-in-law of the couple I did the last card for. They are a sweet couple with a beautiful little daughter. I colored the image with my prismacolor pencils. The papers are K&Company. I used Home Accents for the flourish. The borders are by MS.

Under the Gazebo

I just had to make a card with some cuts from the new Cricut "Freshly Picked" cartridge. I've always like gazebos, so I decided to use that cut. However, I didn't like the flowers that came in the cut because it just didn't look in perspective; especially when I added the couple. So I cut some of the MS flowers and layered them with the greenery. The couple are from the Cricut "Sweethearts" cartridge. The photo corners are by Cuttlebug. One of the card designers that makes fantastic cards, Kelly of Kreative Korners by Kelly, has a great way of embossing the corners; she glues two pieces of paper or cardstock together, then cuts and embosses them. So this is how I now make mine, too. Don't they look almost real?

This is one of the newest stamps by Elaine Cox over at Sweet Pea Stamps. I think he's so cute. Both this card and the one before this one are to thank my daughters for all the help they provided for me when I came home from the hospital and as I'm recovering.

I think it is important to thank family members, as well as friends when they extend themselves in your belhalf. The "Sam's in trouble" card below is for my daughter who has a little boy two years old. This is for my single daughter who likes burgundy. (The purple colors are actually more of a burgundy.)

That's the name of this adorable digi image
from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. This is one of my favorite stamps. I can just see his mother finding him after he's drawn on the wall.

I cut him and the oval behind him out on my Cricut. The papers are from Recollections & Jen Wilson's Complete Boy. I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol. I used matching "rain drops" and then faux stitched the card like a quilt would be done.

Vintage Anniversary

This is a second anniversary card for another dear couple. (They always come in two or more at a time.) I've been wanting to use the cameos on the Heritage cartridge for a while, but couldn't come up with an idea. It finally came to me, so here is my design. The button on the right holds the "Happy Anniversary" banner closed.

I added some bows from ribbon in my stash, as well as the buttons. The paper on the inside is more of a burgundy, but looks a little more distressed than it actually is.

Celebrate...

This is a card that I made for the anniversary of a dear couple. I hadn't used my Pagoda cartridge yet, and I was determined to do so. The "pinkish" colors you see are actually reds. The flowers are a little lighter, and the other has a sheen to it, so for some reason they look more pink. (Oh well.) All the elements came from the Pagoda cart. The card is 5-1/2"x8-1/2".

These are thank you cards that I did for all of my friends that sat with me during my recovery at home, and ones that brought meals for me and my husband. I'm still recouping, and will for a few more weeks, but I am getting a little stronger each day. The three cards I've posted today were done over several hours and days, as I am unable to sit at my table for too long a time.

I did these cards assembly-line style. There was quite a bit more to them than I first planned, but I don't like to give less than my best. I did around 28 of these, and I have a couple left for anyone else that might warrent one.

I again used my "Just Because" cartridge, and ran the lamb's coat through my Cuttlebug. I pretty much did the card as it is in the layout. However, I did add my own special touches, such as the faux stitching, high-lighting the words, the jewels, and the butterfly at the top. I also used colored paper on the inside that I cut with decorative edged sizzors and then inked the edges.
